Produced and hosted by performance poet, author, and arts advocate Dionne Hunter, the multidisciplinary production returns to Booth Playhouse for the third time. The program includes music, dance, performance poetry, visual art, song, and storytelling that explores how people move through life with hope and healing.
The poets include Emmy Award winner Boris “Bluz” Rogers; four-time World Poetry Slam winner Ed Mabrey and Charlotte Poet Laureate Jay Ward, an individual World Poetry Slam champion. They will be joined by DS Will, Jaycee Cowan, Keith Allison, Linda Orji, Lisa Ann Markuson and Hunter.
Musical artists include Adayla Turner, Enacense, Mason “Quill” Parker, saxophonist Bryan Patterson Jr., and violinist Marcus R. Pyle. Ballroom dancers Robert Fitzgerald and Takeila Fox will perform alongside ballet artists Raven Barkley and Maurice Mouzon Jr. Visual artists Julianna O’Malley and Tajmah Allison will also perform.
The initiative creates opportunities for young people and adults to experience poetry, visual art, movement, and other forms of creative expression, including a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas.
