Carolinas Metro Reds Invitational brings together youth baseball players for a weekend of games and mentorship through Aug. 9 at Stick Williams Dream Fields and Southview Recreation Center.

A youth baseball showcase will bring together west Charlotte communities and competitors.

The Carolinas Metro Reds Invitational Aug. 7-9 will be held at Southview Recreation Center and Stick Williams Dream Fields is a collaboration with Renaissance West Community Initiative. The three-day showcase will bring together athletes, families, coaches, and community supporters for competition, connection, and a celebration of youth baseball in the region.

The Aug. 8 event at Southview Community Recreation Center, located at 1720 Vilma St., starts at 11 a.m. Admission is free admission with registration on Eventbrite. For information, go to MetroReds.net.

“This invitational is about baseball, but it is also about exposure, discipline, teamwork, and hope,” Morris Madden, a retired Major League pitcher and Carolinas Metro Reds, founder and executive director said in a statement. “We are excited to partner with RWCI to create an experience that uplifts youth and brings the community together.”

The invitational is free and will feature baseball, food trucks, vendors, community blood drive and family activities. Lawn chairs are encouraged.

For RWCI, a community-based nonprofit focused on building a collaborative neighborhood through quality housing, education, wellness, and opportunity, the invitational is an opportunity to engage families and invest in young people.

“At RWCI, we believe strong communities are built by creating meaningful opportunities for young people and families to come together,” CEO Tiffany Capers said. “The Carolinas Metro Reds Invitational reflects the kind of partnership and community investment that helps young people thrive.”
