Charlotte Hornets deal Miles Bridges to Phoenix Suns

TROY HULL | THE CHARLOTTE POST
Miles Bridges, who averaged 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Charlotte Hornets in 2025-26, has been traded to the Phoenix Suns for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and a 2033 first-round draft pick.

The Charlotte Hornets’ busy summer continues.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday afternoon that the Hornets were trading Miles Bridges, a 2027 second round draft pick and 2029 first round pick to the Phoenix Suns for guard Grayson Allen, forward Royce O’Neale and a 2033 first round pick. The Hornets will pay Allen ($18.1 million) and O’Neale (10.8 million) to come off the bench while adding to a plethora of future picks that can be used as trade leverage.

Bridges, whose expiring contract carries a salary cap hit of $22.8 million in 2026-27, played 77 regular season games in 2025-26, averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He shot 46.0% from the field and 82.2% from the free-throw line. According to Michael Scotto, an NBA insider for Hoops Hype, the Hornets held exploratory trade conversations for Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown despite prior reports that Brown to Charlotte wasn’t an option.

With Bridges gone, it opens a forward spot that could potentially be used for Brown if the Hornets are willing to deal for him. But with a large cache of future picks and pick swaps on hand, Charlotte has a ton of leverage at their disposal.
