| Charlotte Independence, riding a five-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, take on Forward Madison FC in a USL League One game May 23 in Matthews. |
The Charlotte Independence have a good thing going, especially at home.
The Jacks, who are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions (3-0-2), will face Forward Madison FC at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews May 23 at 7 p.m. Charlotte (3-2-2, 11 points in USL League One) are a point ahead of Madison (3-2-1) in seventh place in the table. The match is the first meeting between the teams in 2026 and 12th all-time, with the Flamingos leading 4-3-5.
The Jacks, who are 4-0-1 in home matches, picked up their first win away from Mecklenburg County last week with a 3-1 win at Corpus Christi FC. Enzo Martinez, Jefferson, Jefferson Amaya and Luis Alvarez each scored goals for Charlotte’s second straight result.
Forward Madison, by contrast, have lost back-to-back games and are struggling to score goals with only eight through six games and an average of 3.5 shots on goal per match. The Independence have scored 14 goals per game and average 5.7 shots on goal. Eight Jacks have scored for Charlotte in league games, with Alvarez’s three goals leading the way.
After Saturday’s match, Independence hits the road for a pair of games at Chattanooga Red Wolves on May 30 and FC Naples on June 3.
