| Kevin White is Charlotte's next athletics director, according to an ESPN report. |
After four months of searching, the Charlotte 49ers have their next athletics director.
Kevin White, deputy director of athletics at Clemson, will take over at Charlotte, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He previously was chief operating officer and deputy AD at Northwestern and COO at Southern Methodist. Thamel said one of the appealing factors for Charlotte was White’s background in fundraising.
White has been at Clemson since 2022, where he oversaw the football and basketball programs. According to his biography, during three years as basketball supervisor, the Tigers men’s program had its best three-year stretch in school history with an Elite Eight appearance, 74 wins and ranking second among ACC schools in conference wins, trailing only Duke.
White, who is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, earned his bachelor’s degree at North Carolina, where he played junior varsity basketball. He then went on to earn a master’s degree at Georgia State and MBA at Kennesaw State. In high school, White played basketball at Oak Hill Academy, an eight-time national champion.
As of Saturday morning, no official introductory press conference has been scheduled yet.
