| CITY OF KANNAPOLIS |
| Baseball is an important piece of Americana, and the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are playing on July 3. |
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday.
For young families or people on a budget in and around Charlotte, there are plenty of options to choose from to where you can enjoy the holiday weekend without feeling obligated to spend more than your budget may allow for.
Let’s look at some options:
Whitewater Center
Located at 5000 Whitewater Center in Charlotte, on July 3-4 there will be live music, a trail race and an undisclosed new event this year. The times on July 3 are from 6-10 p.m. and on July 4 the center will be open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. with festivities all day.
The event is free both days, but parking will cost $12. There are no fireworks involved, so if you have kids that aren’t fond of the noise that usually goes along with Independence Day, this might be the event for you.
Matthews Independence Day celebration
On July 3 from 5-8:30 p.m. there’s live music, bounce houses for the kids, hot dogs and hamburgers, and craft beer for brew enthusiasts. It includes a fireworks show that begins at 9:30 p.m.
The celebration is free other than food or beverage purchases and is locateed at 120 S. Trade Street in Matthews. The fireworks display will be at 2425 Sports Parkway in Matthews. Vehicles should enter the SportsPlex on Brigman Road.
Charlotte Museum of History
Located at 3500 Shamrock Dive, the Museum of History is hosting a free event on July 4 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. where history buffs can check out exhibits.
There’ll also a U.S. oath and naturalization ceremony for new citizens. While the event is free, go to the museum’s website to reserve your free tickets.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers baseball
On July 3 the Cannon Ballers will face the Hickory Crawdads at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 and there will be postgame fireworks. The location stadium is located at 1 Cannon Baller Way in Kannapolis. There are plenty of free parking options.
For sports fans, this is a great opportunity to take the family out to a fun night at the ballpark. Food and concessions will be available at additional cost.
