 People of Note: Charlotte Startup Labs promotes four

NORTH CAROLINA REPUBLICAN PARTY
Addul Ali has been elected chair of the 12th Congressional District Republican Party.

Charlotte Startup Labs has made organizational changes and staff promotions.


The nonprofit offers entrepreneurship and workforce development training to justice-impacted individuals by reimagining workforce development.

Travis Williams has been promoted to director of strategic impact, where he will oversee program initiatives, ensure operational efficiency, and manage financial and strategic planning.

Shaheedah Ross is director of restorative pathways, responsible for the initiative on health care careers for justice-impacted individuals. Ross will manage existing partnerships and lead efforts to expand second-chance employment workplace partners.

Margaret Velez has been promoted to director of the ReEntry Entrepreneurship Program, which supports formerly incarcerated individuals in launching businesses.

LeeRoy Jordan, the new senior consultant for restorative pathways, has nearly 40 years of expertise in restorative justice to support and strengthen the Restorative Pathways workplace readiness program.

• WBTV hired Kym Anderson as weekday evening anchor, effective April 7.

Anderson will anchor WBTV News at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and co-anchor of “On Your Side Tonight” at 7 p.m.

Anderson spent 18 years at WPMI in Mobile, Alabama and has also been seen on WHNT in Huntsville, WJSU in Anniston and WAFF in Huntsville.

Addul Ali has been elected chairman of the 12th Congressional District Republican Party, making him the first Black person to hold the position.

Ali was chairman of the Cabarrus County GOP and is operations director for the Frederick Douglass Foundation of North Carolina. He garnered over 90,000 votes as the Republican congressional candidate in the 12th congressional district.
