New North Carolina A&T football coach Shawn Gibbs rounded out his staff by adding Denzel Jones as defensive coordinator and Greg McGhee as offensive coordinator.

New North Carolina A&T football coach Shawn Gibbs has completed his staff.

Aggies alumnus Denzel Jones is the new defensive coordinator, and Greg McGhee is offensive coordinator.

Gibbs rehired several former assistant coaches as well: Ron Mattes (offensive line), Nate Poole (receivers), Keith Henry (running backs), Terry Lantz (outside linebackers), Stephen Barnette (tight ends), coach Alex Purviance (linebackers assistant) and Tony McRae (defensive backs).

Rounding out the coaching roster are O.C. Williams II (defensive line) and Theric Holt (director of football operations).

“I’m excited about the staff we have assembled here,” Gibbs said. “We have several guys who have ties to A&T and have accomplished many things as players and coaches in the HBCU world and in the pros as players.”

NCCU loses a coach, gains another

Eagles coach Trei Oliver has lost another assistant coach to Florida A&M.

Running backs coach Kevin Maurice left to become the Rattlers’ recruiting coordinator and running backs coach. Oliver added Coastal Carolina offensive analyst Mac Dieudonne as offensive line coach.
