Opera Carolina general director Shanté Williams is the subject of an episode of “The American Dream TV” on The Travel Channel.

Opera Carolina general director Shanté Williams gets the spotlight on a national television show.

Williams was featured on The Travel Channel’s “The American Dream TV,” a show that focuses on real estate, lifestyle and culture. The “Selling Charlotte” episode hosted by realtor Danielle Scurry, debuted Dec. 24 and follows Williams during Opera Carolina’s 75th anniversary season opener headlined by Italian singer Andrea Bocelli in concert.

“It was an amazing experience to kick off our diamond anniversary season in such a major way, and I can’t wait for viewers nationwide to get a closer look into some of Charlotte’s culture through the opera lens,” Williams said in a statement.

The program, which will also be shown on HGTV, includes Williams’ interaction with a young blind man whose dream is to attend a Bocelli show.

“It’s about creating experiences that will last for a lifetime,” she said. “It was not only a blessing but a tremendous opportunity for us to give the gift of opera to those young people.”

Williams, who was appointed Opera Carolina’s general director in July, is the first Black person or woman to hold the position. A venture capitalist and CEO of Black Pearl Vision and its parent company, Black Pearl Global Investments, which has a $25 million portfolio that includes health, finance and real estate. Before her appointment, Williams was a member of Opera Carolina’s board of directors.
