| The Charlotte 49ers are working on a five-year deal to make Ohio's Tim Albin their next football coach. Albin is 33-19 in four seasons at Ohio. |
Charlotte is expected to hire Tim Albin as the next head football coach.
Albin, 59, has been the head coach at Ohio since 2021. He was named Bobcats offensive coordinator in 2005 and remained with the program until taking the Charlotte job.
Albin and the administration at Charlotte are working towards a five-year contract. Albin will be the fourth head coach for the 49ers in program history — third hired by Hill.
Albin helped the Bobcats to two straight 10-win seasons with five straight bowl game wins. Albin has expertise on one side of the ball, which 49ers’ Athletics Director Mike Hill stated he was looking for after the dismissal of former head coach Biff Poggi.
In 2022, Albin was named MAC coach of the year after finishing the season 10-4, which was the program’s first 10-win season since 2011. Albin is fresh off another 10-win season in 2024 after winning the conference title game against Miami of Ohio.
In four seasons at Ohio, Albin is 33-19. Ohio’s looking to win its sixth straight bowl game, which would break the Mid-American conference's all-time bowl game win streak.
