C.W. Williams Community Health Center is in its new home.
Center officials welcomed the community to its permanent campus at 3333 Wilkinson Blvd. with a new building. The $11 million, 17,700-square foot facility officially opened on Oct. 7 as site for affordable medical and dental healthcare in traditionally underserved communities and people with limited access to care.
The center, founded by Dr. Charles Warren Williams in 1981, was torn down last year and replaced by a state-of-the-art facility built on the same property meet the growing needs of patients. The building has open floor plans, primary and preventative medical, dental, pharmacy, and support services to reduce gaps to health care and minimize emergency department visits.
Among the services offered are mental health and substance use disorder counseling and treatment, women’s health, pediatric care, comprehensive HIV services, acupuncture, acupressure, and herbal therapies. The facility also has a lactation area, food pantry, demonstration kitchen, and non-emergency patient transportation.
For uninsured clients, the center has a sliding fee discount program and health insurance enrollment assistance.
