The Black Power Rangers are coming back to Charlotte.
The troupe of Black comics is kicking off its third national tour at The Landing at 4th Ward Sept. 18 as part of a tour that ends in January. The lineup includes a couple of North Carolinians in Jordan Centry of Charlotte and founder Wills Maxwell of Wilmington as well as Brandi Augustus of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Charlotte-based comics Don Garrett and Kayla Kandi will also perform in their hometown, one of three North Carolina stops on the tour.
“This is our third year starting the tour in Charlotte,” Maxwell said. “We know this is the best city to start the tour with a lot of laughter and energy.”

The tour, founded by Maxwell in 2022, has visited over a dozen cities and is changing up the schedule by expanding its duration and territory. The show dates encompass three legs and different lineups folded into one tour where no two nights are the same.
“I love performing on these shows but honestly, I really love watching them,” said Maxwell, who curated the talent. “Every show has a different lineup and it’s always amazing to see how these different talents make for an especially hilarious night. I love the people I perform with. I’m their colleague but I’m also their fan.”
