| Jason Armstrong, who coached Lincoln (Pa.) to its first CIAA basketball title in March, has stepped down after two seasons. |
The coach who led Lincoln (Pa.) to its first CIAA basketball title is moving on.
Jason Armstrong, who directed the Lions to their first tournament final win in March, stepped down Friday and replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Keyshawn McMahon. Both Armstrong and McMahon joined Lincoln in 2020 under former coach Corey Lowery. Armstrong was named interim coach in 2022 and promoted to full-time coach last year.
“I want to thank Coach Jason Armstrong for his contributions to the Lincoln University men’s basketball program,” Lincoln athletic director Harry Stinson III said in a statement. “Over the past two seasons our men's basketball program has seen unparalleled success. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
After going 17-15 with a loss to Winston-Salem State in the 2023 CIAA final, Lincoln rebounded to earn the Northern Division’s top seed and beat Fayetteville State 54-51 for the 2024 tournament title. The Lions (17-14) finished the season with a 97-63 loss to Gannon (Pa.) in the NCAA Division II tournament’s first round.

McMahon, who joined the program as a stipend assistant coach managing player personnel, was promoted to assistant coach when Armstrong was named interim coach.
“As we turn the page and continue to build upon the championship culture that has been laid in this program, we are excited for the future,” Stinson said. “We believe with the returning student athletes, the culture of excellence that they have embodied coupled with the leadership and guidance of coach Keyshawn McMahon, we have the opportunity to continue build upon the championship culture and vie for CIAA and NCAA championships for years to come."
