It’s homecoming week at Johnson C. Smith University.
Activities started on Sunday and will include golf, a step show, alumni gatherings and culminates on Oct. 14 with the Golden Bulls football team taking on the St. Augustine’s University Falcons.
The activities:
Oct. 12
100 Club Homecoming Golf Classic
Carolina Lakes Golf Club, 23012 Kingfisher Drive; Indian Land, S.C.; 12:30 p.m.
JCSU’s 100 Club hosts its annual golf tournament with honorary chair Kieth Cockrell, president of Bank of America Charlotte. Proceeds will benefit JCSU’s student-athletes. You can buy tickets online or donate via CashApp: $JCSU100ClubTreasurer.
“I 'Pink' I Can” Ol’ School Cookout & Skate Party
The Block, 11 a.m.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, but early detection saves lives. JCSU’s Office of Health and Wellness and Perkins Management Services roll out information on prevention and advocacy.
Homecoming coronation
Biddle Auditorium, 7 p.m.
Crowning the 97th Miss JCSU, Aliyah Thompson, 13th Mister JCSU, Kofi Asafu-Adjaye. The campus will honor and celebrate the Royal Court followed by a Royal Reception on the second floor.
Free. Open to the public.
Oct. 13
“I Am Smith” alumni career panel
Truist Auditorium (New Science Center), 9 a.m.
Smithites come home to interact with students at a forum hosted by the JCSU National Alumni Association and the Smith Institute for Research, Career Development, and Postgraduate Readiness.
Free and open to the public.
Transformation focus group
Innovation Center (New Science Center), 10 a.m.
Time for alumni to engage representatives from JCSU’s offices of Alumni Relations and Transformation Initiatives on efforts to educate, transform, and advance the school’s mission and vision.
Festi-Bull, Part I, Alumni Row and pep rally
The Block, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Pep Rally starts at 4 p.m.)
The Block will be filled with local and regional vendors and Alumni Chapters, as well as great music and shopping options. JCSU Bookstore will be open.

General alumni meeting
New Science Center Auditorium, 2 p.m.
Alumni are invited to the National Alumni Association’s meeting. Alumni business and updates will be discussed and provided, as well as how alumni can support the school.
Alumni homecoming mixer
Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel, 4 p.m.
Alumni mix and mingle with saxophonist Warran Raybon well into the evening. Tickets are available online. Alumni hospitality will follow.
“A Night at the Library”
James B. Duke Memorial Library, 3–6 p.m.
Alumni and the community gather for an evening of light snacks, refreshments, and music.
Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority 80th anniversary celebration
Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel, 3315 Scott Futrell Drive), 6 p.m.
Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presents its celebration as the school’s first sorority.

Homecoming tailgatin’
Tailgate Lot, 7 a.m.
Stop by for hot dogs and burgers, ribs and hot fish before the game.
Bicycle race
Beatties Ford Road, 7 a.m.
Jump on your bike to ride through Historic West End and catch the homecoming parade.

Homecoming parade
United House of Prayer for All People, 2321 Beatties Ford Road, 10 a.m.
JCSU shows its commitment to Historic West End and the Beatties Ford Road corridor with marching bands, majorette and step teams, civic and social leaders, Miss and Mister JCSU along with the Royal Court.
Free. Open to the public.
Festi-Bull, Part III
The Block, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Shopping extravaganza for campus-related swag and local/regional vendors. Free. Open to the public.
Pyramids and Sphinxes on the lawn
Humanities Lawn, 11 a.m.
Alpha Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority mark their 100th and 80th anniversaries.
JCSU vs. St. Augustine’s University football
Irwin Belk Complex, 1 p.m.
The Golden Bulls need a win to remain in the race for the CIAA Southern Division race. At 4-2, JCSU has already doubled last year’s win total.
Alumni marching band tailgate
Band & Music Hall, 3:30 p.m.
Band alumni, Blue Satin and the Untoucha-Bulls gather for food and fellowship.
Millennium Café, 4 p.m. (or immediately following the game)
Fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, BBQ ribs and sweet potato pie are on the menu.

The National Alumni Association hosts its annual dance. Tickets required. Alumni hospitality follow.
Divine 9 step show
Brayboy Gymnasium, 8 p.m.
Sororities and fraternities battle for trophies and bragging rights at one of homecoming’s most popular events.
Free. Open to the public.
Oct. 15
Worship service with Delta Sigma Theta
Jane M. Smith Church, 10 a.m.
Sponsored by Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
