Creekridge project brings workforce housing to east Charlotte

More workforce housing is coming to Charlotte.
Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Dominium Apartments, an affordable housing developer and manager, has closed a deal to buy land at 7800 Creekridge Road to develop of a new affordable housing community.
Dominium, which manages more than 38,000 apartments in 19 states, plans to build Creekridge on the Park, a 150-unit, $60 million east Charlotte neighborhood for low-income families.
The project will be constructed by WD construction, a joint venture between Weis Builders and Dominium Construction and Architectural Services.
Creekridge On The Park’s expected completion date is July 2025 and will consist of:
• 18 one-bedroom apartments at 796 square feet
• 66 two-bedroom units at 1,138 square feet, and
• 66 three-bedroom apartments ranging from 1,198 to 1,336 square feet

Each unit includes amenities such as laundry, patios, hardwood floors, energy efficient appliances, and LED light fixtures.
Shared amenities include a clubhouse with fitness center and clubroom; communal laundry building, playground, covered picnic area with grill stations, and mail kiosk center.
Construction will be supported by the Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, the nation’s largest source of support for construction and maintenance of affordable housing communities. In exchange for the credits, developers and operators maintain rents tied to the area median income.
