Kameron Lacey, who tallied a team-best nine goals and seven assists for the Charlotte 49ers in 2022, signed with MNUFC2 of MLS Next Pro.

Former Charlotte 49ers striker Kameron Lacey is graduating to MLS Next Pro.


Lacey signed a one-year MLS Next Pro contract last week with MNUFC2, Minnesota United’s development league team.


Lacey, who tallied career- and team-highs in goals (nine), assists (seven) and points (25) for Charlotte in 2022, which led the nation in scoring. He scored six goals in the 49ers’ first seven games as Charlotte opened the season 7-0.


Those stats earned Lacey All-East region second team honors from the United Soccer Coaches Association of America. Lacey, a Miami native, was also named first team All-American Athletic Conference in his final season. In four years, he started 46 games in 58 matches played with 17 goals and 14 assists.


“The time [Lacey has] been with us, he’s been incredibly hard-working,” MNUFC2 coach Cameron Knowles said in a statement. “Kameron has been really consistent in the way that he performs and has shown to be a good finisher. He puts the opposition under a lot of pressure when they’re trying to build out. Kameron is a good person and a good teammate; we’re excited to add him.”


Lacey played for FC Dallas, Miramar United and Orlando City’s youth systems and was a member of FC Dallas’ U17 and Orlando City’s U19 conference title sides. He represented Jamaica in international play with the U17 and U20 national teams, with two appearances for the U20 squad in friendlies against the United States U19 and U20 sides.
