Charlotte Deltas host 59th annual debutante cotillion

Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and Deltas of Charlotte Foundation will host the 59th annual debutante cotillion April 8 at UNC Charlotte.

Delta Sigma Theta sorority is hosting one of its best-known social events.

The Charlotte Alumnae Chapter and Deltas of Charlotte Foundation are sponsoring the 59th annual debutante cotillion April 8 at 6 p.m. UNC Charlotte’s Halton Arena. The arena is in Barnhardt Student Activity Center, 9201 University City Blvd. #202.

The ball, titled “A Royal Affair: Young Ladies Leading the Way” is free and open to the public. Attire is semiformal.

Through the years, Charlotte Alumnae Chapter has collectively awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to cotillion participants.

The debutantes are girls in 11th or 12th grade who participate in workshops and learning activities, raise money for college scholarships and cap their experience with the cotillion, a formal ball where they are presented to families, friends, and supporters.
