Keith Stanley has been appointed president and CEO of University City Partners.
Stanley, who starts his new job in January, is executive director of Near West Side Partners Inc. in Milwaukee, where he leads revitalization and neighborhood sustainability initiatives. He is also executive director of the Avenues West Association and Near West Side Business Improvement District No. 10.
“We are grateful for Keith Stanley’s outstanding skill sets being added to our community at a critical time in UCP’s history,” UCP Chairman Stuart Parks said in a statement.
Stanley, an alumnus of Alabama State University, will lead an organization that’s a major cultural and economic force in an area that includes UNC Charlotte. University City is the second largest employment center in Charlotte, second only to Center City.
“It is an honor to lead University City Partners into its next phase of growth, strategic development and partnership for this dynamic and growing part of Charlotte,” Stanley said in a statement.

UCP released a plan last year to lay the groundwork encompassing the next 20 years of proposed development, focusing on urban and transit-oriented development, as well as a greenbelt for mobility and recreation. Stanley will oversee those initiatives through strategic planning, financial management, and community outreach.
Among Stanley’s accolades are Milwaukee Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 winner; BizTimes Nonprofit Executive of the Year; Young Alumni Award from the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation; Young American Leaders program of Harvard University, and the Diversity in Business Award from the Milwaukee Business Journal and the 2022 Frank Kirkpatrick Award by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
With Near West Side Partners, Stanley launched the Promoting Assets Reducing Crime Initiative, a three-year, $5 million program to support transformation of the neighborhood and address challenges to the neighborhood. He established the first Black historic business tour with two partnering business districts to highlight businesses and historic sites as well as develop sustainable solutions across communities.
