Two-time Oscar winner and 10-time nominee Denzel Washington will participate in the International Leadership Summit March 31-April 2 in Charlotte.

Denzel Washington will be in Charlotte to talk faith and fame.

Washington, a two-time Academy Award winner and a nominee for this year’s Best Actor prize, will speak at the International Leadership Summit March 31-April 2. The annual conference was founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes to bring together aspiring and longtime entrepreneurs, leaders and change agents to influence the future of leadership. Jakes will join Washington for a master class discussing Hollywood, faith and life in the spotlight.

“Denzel Washington's career is unrivaled—both on and off the screen, his passion for impacting the world shines through,” said Jakes, convener of the summit and bishop of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas. "Denzel's wisdom, business prowess, and ability to mentor and mobilize has indelibly influenced the world, and I am honored to welcome him to the International Leadership Summit.”

Washington (“The Equalizer,” “Malcolm X,” “Training Day,” “The Pelican Brief”) is considered one of the greatest actors of his generation and has 10 Oscar nominations, more than any Black man. He is up for another in 2022 for Best Actor in “The Tragedy of Macbeth.” In addition, Washington has earned the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award, one of the highest honors in film and the Cecil B. deMille Award for lifetime achievement given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for outstanding contributions.

Washington is also an accomplished director and producer whose credits include “A Journal for Jordan,” starring Michael B. Jordan (2021), “Antwone Fisher” (2002), “The Great Debaters” (2007) and “Fences” (2016).

Participants from 19 countries on three continents have registered to attend the summit. Other speakers include Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo, entrepreneur and North Carolina A&T State University graduate Janice Bryant Howroyd, author and political commentator Van Jones and pastor Joel Osteen.
