Charlotte Solid Waste Services will pick up yard waste collection starting on April 27.
The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will conduct a one-time yard waste collection on April 27.
Yard Waste was last collected March 16-20. Solid Waste Services suspended yard waste collection on March 23 for 30 days or until further notice. The one-time sweep beginning on the April 27 is for the removal of yard waste caused by recent storms and spring yard maintenance. The city does not have any other yard waste collection scheduled.
Residents are advised to place yard waste at the curb prior to April 27, leaving it until it has been collected. Note that limited crews will be deployed for collection, which means yard waste collection may take longer than that week.
Yard waste cannot be placed in garbage or recycling carts, and North Carolina deems it illegal to place yard waste in a landfill. However, yard waste can be taken to one of Mecklenburg County’s full-service recycling centers: Foxhole Recycling Center (17131 Lancaster Highway); Hickory Grove Recycling Center (8007 Pence Road); Compost Central and Recycling Center (140 Valleydale Road); North Mecklenburg Recycling Center (12300 N. Statesville Road, Huntersville).
Brush cannot be longer than 5 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter. It should be separate into piles that do not exceed 5 feet in length and three feet high. Keep two feet between each pile.
Grass clippings may be placed in untied plastic or paper bags, or in uncovered containers. The containers must hold less than 32 gallons. Grass clippings may not exceed 75 pounds each. They may be combined with leaves and trimmings for collection.
Leaves must go in untied plastic or paper bags, or in uncovered trash cans. However, the leaves may not be accompanied by other trash.
Limbs cannot be longer than 5 feet and 4 inches in diameter. Separate them into piles no higher than 5 feet long and 3 feet high, placing two feet between each pile. Do not tie limbs. They may be placed in containers for collection.
Logs will only be collected if they are under 4 inches in diameter. Tree stumps are not eligible for collection.

Leaves, branches and sticks everywhere! When will yard waste pick up resume again. Only positive thing, my son is getting a workout moving 8 bags of leaves from the back to the front of the house every other week.

Somewhat disheartening to be told to get our yard waste out by the 27th of April. It is now May 18 and our development here in North Charlotte is still waiting for pickup! Restart the weekly service now!! For heavens sakes they can wear gloves can't they?

Please publish in your paper when the next pick up will be (it's May 16 today). The City has NO pick up dates during COVID on their web-site. How are we supposed to know when to set the stuff out?

White Oak in South Charlotte had trash pickup Today and I was hopeful the yard waste would finally be picked up, but no dice. How much longer can we expect for this all to sit out. Rains have pushed some neighbors debris into the streets. Certainly understand across town we all suffered those couple bad windstorms and had tree damage, but several of us are all essential employees, so not really sure how this is not considered that. It's not just an eye sore, it's becoming dangerous.

Yeah! 2 trucks, 4 workers, working together. Gave then a thank you and applause when they were picking up. Providence Country Club is getting service this morning!

Not sure what is happening with pickup of yard waste. Our Providence Plantation neighborhood looks like a disaster zone ! When can we get someone out to do their job .?

We rushed to get our yard waste out by the 27th. It is now May12 and the grass is starting to grow higher than the yard waste. We had straight line winds so there is quite a bit.

Has anybody had their yard waste picked up? It's been more than two weeks. Doesn't appear to be a great plan.

How do we know if they are picking up still in our neighborhood?

I have had piles of limbs from a tree that had to be taken down out at the street for over a month. Still no pickup even after the april 27th pickup date. There are many other houses on Harris Houston area that have yard waste out as well.

Have a lot of twigs and bags of leaves on curb since April 27th. Sarah Hall sub in South Charlotte and Spectrum is going to start some digging where all these leaf bags are. Any sign you will be by for pickup?

I have also started to put my yard waste in the regular trash cans. The city has left us no other choice. Just put it in dark bags and make sure it's closed right so no one can see what's in it. I put a few bags in each week and by next week the street in front of my house will be clean again.

No one has come to our neighborhood and it's about time to start putting it in the regular trash cans as we have no other choice.

Cleanup has yet to reach the Colvard Park neighborhood. Is there any updated schedule as to when clean up will take place?
Posted on May 7, 2020
This is why it should have never been stopped. Trash pickup was on a regular schedule. Hopefully no snakes and mice are hiding in all that stuff when someone finally picks it up. Not very healthy and sanitary.

We've been working every day as "essential employees" and do not understand why yard waste cannot be collected. Perhaps a plan should have been in place before announcing we should all drag our debris back out to the street, only to be an eye sore to our neighborhoods.

When will next yard waste be picked up on Back Ridge Road 28277 neighborhood in south Charlotte.

Yard waste continues to pile up after storm on S Wendover Rd. Nothing has been collected starting April 27. This is an essential service the City needs to continue or start refunding taxes.

My yard waste has been out since 25 April for pickup and it's still here in the Forest Pawtuckett neighborhood. Are you all waiving fees at the service centers if we take it there, our neighborhoods are beginning to look terrible with this debris and also damaging yards.

Yard waste has not been removed and has been on the street in the Wilshire Neighborhood since April 27, today is May 6. What is the pickup schedule; is it near future? It is an unsightly mess on the streets.
