ORLANDO, Fla. — Trophy Room is not a store. It is an experience.

With over 20 trophies from his NBA career alone, basketball hall of famer and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan’s hardware collection room inspired his son Marcus Jordan to create an apparel boutique dedicated to honoring family and the pursuit of excellence.

“The family element that we try to instill in our customers here was definitely a selling point,” the junior Jordan said. “We have got the baby toddlers gear and all of the different family photos on the wall. I think it’s really just more of a homey environment. I wanted it to be more of an experience to come to Trophy Room versus ‘I am coming to just grab a pair of shoes,’ or something like that. I think we are doing a good job.”

Located in the recently renovated Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) Town Center Area, Trophy Room decor includes everything from Jordan family photos in the original trophy room, to pictures of the family at Disney. Guests do not need to know the difference between a forward and a center to appreciate the Jordan Brand, Nike Inc. and Upper Deck Authenticated merchandise.  

“Obviously the international demographic that Disney brings here was definitely a plus, but it was really more about bringing something like this to the Orlando market,” the junior Jordan said. “I realized that there wasn’t anything like it, and to bring this family-tied concept, and one of a kind concept, to Disney Springs, it was a no-brainer.”

While the only one of its kind at present, Jordan hopes to see the store expand across the globe.

“We are trying to figure out where the markets are,” Jordan said. “My dream goal is to have 10-15 stores internationally—all doing well in synergy. That is my goal.”
