Krista Terrell has been named interim president of the Arts & Science Council. She succeeds Jeep Bryant, who stepped down earlier this month.

Krista Terrell is the Arts & Science Council’s acting president effective immediately.

Terrell replaces Jeep Bryant, who announced on Jan. 13 he would resign effective Jan. 29. Bryant replaced former ASC president Robert Bush in 2019.

Terrell, a Johnson C. Smith University alumna, has been with the arts advocacy organization for almost 19 years, most recently served as vice president of marketing and communications. She will serve as president until a replacement is named.

“Krista is a respected and known leader in the community and in the cultural sector,” ASC Board Chair Susan Patterson said in a statement. “Her experience and leadership are needed during this transition. ASC’s Board of Directors has every confidence in Krista and her abilities to provide steady leadership for the organization and its team members. This move will ensure ASC’s work to support the cultural sector continues to move forward at this critical time as we determine a long-term plan.”

Terrell created Culture Feast, Connect with Culture Day and other ASC community campaigns. Culture Feast turned Uptown streets into community tables with artistic performances, while Connect with Culture Day provided free access to cultural experiences and institutions across the county. She also launched CharlotteCultureGuide.com to make people aware of local cultural experiences.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Terrell serves on the Board of Ethics and Professional Standards for the Public Relations Society of America. Terrell received her accreditation in public relations in 2012 from PRSA. She is the inaugural recipient of the Mosaic Award for the PRSA Charlotte chapter for highlighting diversity, equity and inclusion in her work.
