Robert Dailey earned a $10,000 Chambers-McCain Foundation scholarship.

Robert Dailey and Jonathan C. Weaver are the inaugural Beta Delta Boule Scholarship program recipients.

The Chambers-McCain Foundation of Beta Delta Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity awarded two scholarships for $2,500 each for four years, totaling $10,000 for each recipient. The Beta Delta Boule Scholarship will be awarded annually to Black males in the greater Charlotte area. In addition to the financial benefits for scholarship recipients, the award named for civil rights pioneers Julius Chambers and Franklin McCain also features a mentorship component from Beta Delta Boulé members throughout their undergraduate career.

“The Chambers-McCain Foundation will help develop the next generation of leaders by providing financial support and mentorship,” Chambers-McCain Foundation President Robert Keene said in a statement. “Our focus seeks to build a consistent and sustainable foundation for future success for these already impressive young men.”

Dailey, a Fort Mill resident, will attend Northeastern University, where he intends to study business. Weaver, a Tega Cay resident, will attend Howard University to study public policy. Both Dailey and Weaver graduated Fort Mill High School in June. They are members of the Young Black Leadership Alliance, which often partners with the Chambers-McCain Foundation on programming initiatives.

“We reviewed many qualified students for the scholarship,'' Beta Delta Boulé Scholarship Committee co-chair Ron Ancrum said. “Mr. Dailey and Mr. Weaver are outstanding scholars and very engaged in community service.”

The Boulé Scholars Program is a collaboration between the Beta Delta Boulé and the Grand Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. It is designed to cultivate, celebrate, and advocate for academic excellence from elementary education to postgraduate studies. The Beta Delta Boulé Scholarship is the local response to the Boule Scholars Program. Recipients are chosen by the Beta Delta Boulé Scholarship Committee. The scholarship is an extension of the fraternity’s philanthropic goals to aid the community.
