Johnson C. Smith University kicks off annual homecoming week

It's homecoming week at Johnson C. Smith University.


The annual rite of fall kicks off Monday with events for the campus community as well as the larger community, capped by the annual homecoming football game Oct. 26 against Shaw University.

Among the highlights are the Gospel Explosion with Melvin Crispell III, season nine winner of BET's "Sunday Best" gospel music showcase; FestiVille on the campus throughout the week and pep rally featuring hip hop artist Young Nudy on Oct. 25 at Brayboy Gym. Alumni events include the National Alumni Association meeting, Alumni Band block party and the Gold and Blue Soiree at the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel on Oct. 26.

The homecoming parade Oct. 26 along Beatties Ford Road is one of the year's biggest events in Historic West End.
