Jeff McInnis is expanding his basketball resume.

The West Charlotte High graduate and former Charlotte Bobcat is the national high school coach at Combine Academy, a boarding school and sports performance center in Lincolnton. McInnis, who paced West Charlotte to the 4A state title in 1991, played 12 years in the NBA, capped by a season with the Bobcats in 2008.

McInnis, who founded one of the top AAU basketball squads in the country, Team Charlotte, in 2009, has coached several players who’ve gone on to earn NCAA Division I scholarships as well as competed for a National Championship. In 2015, he was named Under Armour 17-under national coach of the year.

“I am extremely excited for this new opportunity with Combine Academy,” McInnis said. “I look forward to developing and enhancing both the Combine Academy basketball program and its dedicated players on and off the court."

Combine Academy was founded in 2012 by former Clemson basketball teammates Trevor Booker, Jonah Baize, Matt Morris, and Entertainment Tax Advisors, a large consulting firm that represents athletes and entertainers. The school has sent over 350 alumni in multiple sports to collegiate athletic programs. In 2017, Combine Academy relocated its headquarters to a 43-acre campus with over 200,000 square feet of academic and athletic development space in Lincolnton to expand its footprint, reach, and facilities for high school athletes.

McInnis, a key component in West Charlotte's championship history, is an important ingredient in Combine Academy's future.

“Jeff has been an invaluable leader and mentor to some of the nation's most talented student-athletes,” said Baize, Combine’s president. “We look forward to him bringing his experience, network, and most importantly passion, to our rapidly growing organization."
