A public meeting on the major road construction project in Derita community will be held Oct. 23.

State transportation officials will seek input on the Graham Street Extension project and Mallard Creek Road widening at Derita Presbyterian Church, 2230 West Sugar Creek Road from 7-9 p.m. Completion of the project, which has been underway since 2014, has been delayed, and neighborhood residents have expressed concern that delays and cut-through traffic have negatively impacted businesses and the community as a whole.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation estimates the project will be completed in spring 2019.
