Everything is status quo with the top four spots in the Magnificent Seven, but there’s a new team in the rankings.

West Charlotte High moves into the seventh spot, which corresponds with Butler’s home loss to Richmond Senior. The Lions, who are 2-1, didn’t play last week. Mallard Creek, which has been No. 1 since preseason, maintain its position after rolling Berry Academy 77-0.

Vance, Hough and North Mecklenburg round out the top four spots, giving the I-Meck 4A a sweep for the third straight week.

1. Mallard Creek (2-0) – The Mavericks took the first step in a Westside trio sweep with a 77-0 win against Berry Academy. Next up is Harding for the second leg.
2. Vance (3-0) – The Cougars were idle last week. Next: South Mecklenburg at home.

3. Hough (3-0) – The Huskies took a bye last week in preparation for 0-4 Ardrey Kell.

4. North Mecklenburg (3-0) – The Vikings were forced to grind out a 28-21 win against Rocky River. Next is a home date against Cox Mill.

5. Myers Park (4-0) – Another game, another easy win, this time a 56-6 wipeout of South Mecklenburg. Next is Garinger.

6. West Mecklenburg (3-0) – The Hawks cemented their bona fides with a 62-12 pasting of Independence. A tough road test in Scotland awaits. The Scots handled West Mecklenburg with ease last season.

7. West Charlotte (2-1) – The Lions are doing good work early in the season. Next is a Westside clash against Berry, which lost big to Mallard Creek last week.
