Charlotte’s Megan Greene is on the preseason All-Conference USA women’s soccer team.

Greene, a junior forward from Fuquay-Varina, was picked by league coaches for the second straight season. She is Charlotte’s top returning offensive threat after equaling her career highs with 10 goals, six assists and 26 points last fall. Greene earned All-Conference USA, All-Conference USA tournament and United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region third team last year and became the fourth player in school history with multiple double-digit scoring seasons. Greene, who tallied at least one shot in 20 of the 21 games she started, played the third-most minutes of any 49er last year and scored three game-winning goals.

The league’s coaches picked Charlotte to finish third in preseason polling behind Rice and North Texas, who combined for 13 of the 14 first-place votes.

Charlotte plays Kennesaw State in the lone preseason exhibition Wednesday at 5 p.m. The program’s 25th season kicks off Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. against Longwood in the first meeting between the schools.
