You don’t have to like the holidays to enjoy “A Soulful Noel.”

“A Soulful Noel” heads to McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square Dec. 15-16. A season 11 highlight for OnQ Productions, this year’s holiday show features Grammy-nominated group The Hamiltones.

“It will be another great year of soul music, R&B, the whole 9 yards,” OnQ Performing Arts founder and Artistic Director Quentin Talley said. “Super excited, because we just announced that The Hamiltones will be joining us. They’re home for Christmas—back from the road with Anthony Hamilton. We’re very excited to have those guys come join us.”

Directed by Talley and under the musical direction of Tim Scott Jr., “A Soulful Noel” is a reminder of the reason for the season.

“We always say this is a show for folks who love Christmas, and those who are not big holiday fans,” Talley said. “We try to bring to the city a concert that would be family-friendly and a family event to celebrate the reason for the season. It’s a very laid back, yet soulful good time with ‘A Soulful Noel.’ There’s no pressure. Just come and have some fun, and listen to some Christmas tunes that you may not recognize right offhand. We always take Christmas tunes, and turn them on their head. It’s always a good time for those music lovers, and even those who are not big fans of Christmas music.”

Last year’s production streamed worldwide via Facebook Live on The New York Times’ page.

“We had over a quarter million views worldwide,” Talley said. “Folks know more about OnQ, and the work that Charlotte artists are doing. We’re very proud of that. This year, we wanted to take it up a notch. That’s why we invited some national recording artists. Thankfully, they’re from Charlotte. The Hamiltones put on a great show, and their Christmas album will be coming out very soon. They have their singles out now, ‘Come home for Christmas’ and ‘Silent Night.’ It’ll be a Hamiltones Christmas along with ‘A Soulful Noel.’ We’re very excited about having those guys with us.”
