The holidays have arrived.
If you’re staying in town, and perhaps you have guests coming in for the long weekend, here are few suggestions for an artsy weekend.
For the musical lover
“The Sound of Music,” Nov. 24-26 at Belk Theater. It may have been written decades ago, but the Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning Best Score of the Rodgers and Hammerstein story about how the von Trapp family faced Nazi oppression still applies.

For those who can’t wait for Christmas
Head to Halton Theater on the Central Piedmont Community College campus in Elizabeth on Nov. 26 for the Charlotte Civic Orchestra’s Christmas Extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. Just hear those sleigh bells jingling.
For the ones feeling incapable of dealing with the in-laws for another second
Keyshia Cole takes the stage at The Filmore at 8 p.m. on Nov. 24.
