Charlotte 49ers soccer has a challenging schedule for 2017.

The 49ers, who won Conference USA’s regular season title and earned a sixth straight NCAA tournament berth last year, play seven opponents who made the 2016 postseason field. The season opens with exhibition games at Transamerica Field against Longwood on Aug. 15 and High Point Aug. 19. The regular season home schedule kicks off with Winthrop on Aug. 26.

“We are very excited to announce our upcoming schedule,” Charlotte coach Kevin Langan said in a statement. “Once again it will be wonderful challenge for us and August can't come quick enough. In addition to playing in one of the premier soccer conferences in the country, we will also face a tough non-conference schedule. Here at Charlotte we crave being tested by the best in college soccer and this year is no exception.”

Charlotte kicks off Conference USA play against Marshall at home on Sept. 9 before non-conference home games against Elon (Sept. 12) and Jacksonville on Sept. 17. The month ends with road games at Florida International Sept. 23, Clemson and C-USA rival UAB on Sept. 30.

Five of Charlotte’s final seven regular season games are at home, starting with C-USA rival Old Dominion Oct. 6, NCAA qualifier Radford (Oct. 10), NCAA regional finalist Louisville (Oct. 17), 2016 tournament participant South Carolina (Oct. 20) and C-USA tournament champ Kentucky Nov. 4 in the finale. Among the playoff teams the 49ers face on the road are Coastal Carolina (Sept. 5), Clemson (Sept. 26) and New Mexico (Oct. 28).

The Conference USA tournament at Old Dominion starts Nov. 8.
