Teddy McDaniel is the new president and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Central Carolinas.
McDaniel, who starts Aug. 1, succeeds Patrick Graham. McDaniel was president and CEO of the Austin, Texas affiliate for five years.
“We have found a superbly qualified leader who will bring strong relational and managerial skills and a deep sense of commitment to serving both our clients and the larger community,” ULCC board Chair Jack Cobb said in a statement. “Teddy’s selection is the result of a lengthy, nationwide search process, and I want to commend the Search Committee, our search firm, Coleman Lew & Associates, and the National Urban League for the manner in which it was conducted.”
McDaniel spent 15 years in financial services prior to joining the Urban League. From 2004-08, he was an assistant vice president at GE Capital in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he underwrote over $100 million in real estate and commercial loans to small and medium size franchise businesses. He started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and spent three years with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, NA, as manager of a $50 million portfolio in mixed-use real estate properties and loans to McDonald’s franchisees.
In 1998, he joined Franchise Mortgage Acceptance Corp. in Greenwich, Connecticut as a senior underwriter for franchise loans, where he was responsible for over $100 million in senior debt and equity transactions to national restaurant brands such as Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, and Pizza Hut.
McDaniel, a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Austin (Texas) Revitalization Authority, Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau and the University of Texas at Austin’s Diversity Advisory Council. He is the vice chair of Austin’s Airport Advisory Commission and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
