Robert C. Mock

Mock, who will begin Sept. 30, is vice president of student affairs at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He succeeds Art Gallagher, who led the 2,255-student campus since its opening in 2004.

“I am excited to be joining Johnson & Wales University at a time they are expanding their academic programming beyond their renowned culinary, hospitality and business curriculum,” Mock said. “Their professional-focused students contribute to the vibrancy of Charlotte, and I am looking forward to being an active member in the community.”

Mock started his higher education career in 1995 as a staff member in continuing education at the University of Arkansas before joining the faculty four years later. He later became associate dean and associate vice provost for student affairs.  He also has roots in the business community with positions with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Pespi-Cola Company and the Illinois Tool Works in Arkansas.

“Dr. Mock brings a wealth of experience in higher education, business and the military that will benefit the Charlotte campus, “ said JWU Chief Operating Officer Mim Runey. “His vision and leadership will advance the university’s mission of providing an exceptional education that inspires professional success and lifelong personal and intellectual growth.”

In addition to his background in academics and business, Mock was a medical service corps hospital administrative officer with the Arkansas Army National Guard from 2002-10. He earned master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Arkansas Little Rock and a bachelor’s at Southern Illinois University.
