Hot summer movies for 2014
Previews and trailers: What to see and when

From a man with the body of a god playing a demigod to an epic battle between the sexes and stories of sex, drugs and rock and roll - it’s all coming to the big screen this summer. Here’s a primer on what’s playing and when:

“X-Men: Days of Future Past”

Starring Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender Sirs Ian McKellen, Omar Sy and Patrick Stewart. The X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in this action-filled flick. They must change the past to save the future. (Now playing)

“22 Jump Street” 

Starring Ice Cube, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. In this sequel to the hilarious film based on the 1980’s TV show, Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) do spring break and go undercover at a college. (Release Date: June 13)

“How to Train Your Dragon 2”

Starring the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and David Tennant. After a four-year wait, the kids now enjoy a sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2010 breakout hit about a Viking boy and his pet dragon. (Release Date: June 13)

“Think Like a Man Too”

Starring Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, Taraji P. Henson, Meagan Good, Terrence Jenkins, Gary Owen and Romany Malco. It’s another epic battle of the sexes in this movie sequel based on Steve Harvey’s wildly successful book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.” The question is, does anybody win in the end? (Release Date: June 20)

"Transformers: Age of Extinction"

Starring Mark Walberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor. This sci-fi action thriller, director Michael Bay’s fourth installment in his global blockbuster franchise, has it all - explosions, dinobots and nonstop action. (Release Date: June 27)

 “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” 

Starring Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell. Caesar is back as an intelligent ape leading his species to power. (Release Date: July 11)

“Hercules”

Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson playing Hercules the Greek demigod. Both man and myth, he leads a band of mercenaries to help end a bloody civil war in the land of Thrace and return the rightful king to his throne (Release Date: July 25)

“Get on Up”

Starring Jill Scott, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Craig Robinson, Tika Sumpter and Chadwick Boseman as James Brown. A star-studded biopic about the rock star’s life. (Release Date: August 1)

“The Expendables 3”

Starring Wesley Snipes, Terry Crews, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Jason Statham and Jet Li. This cast is so full of such legendary action stars that it will be hard to look a way, no matter what the reviews say. (Release Date: August 15)
