With a few more winter months left of weather, it’s important to choose accessories that are not only stylish and fashionable but also warm. Here are a few options in menswear:
Hats – Whether you prefer a beanie cap or an Alaskan hat with some additional protection and coverage, choosing the right hat is all about personal preference and style. Owning a variety of hats is ideal because it keeps your wardrobe versatile.
During these cold winter months, I recommend trying an Alaskan hat that has flaps which you can fold down for extra warmth around the ears, or attach them to the hat when they are not in use. For a sleek look, purchase these hats in black, camel brown or charcoal gray. For a more fun and playful look, select a hat with a classic red or blue checkered pattern.
Gloves – Leather gloves can be just as functional as they are warm, like a pair of specialty tech gloves that are smartphone accessible, allowing you to text and slide screens on your device without having to remove your gloves. Be sure that the gloves have a nice micro-fleece lining for insulation and warmth. Your gloves should fit properly; not too snug around the wrist or too tight around the fingertips but with just enough support to have full mobility of your hands. Two tone designs that incorporate both leather and wool combinations are another great look for gloves in menswear this season.
Scarves – Yes, men can wear scarves and still look manly. Choose a scarf that is not too tight around the neck and does not hang too low. Maintain your masculinity when wrapping or layering a scarf by minimizing the layers. The scarf should loop no more than once for the best look. Men should also stick to designs like solid colors, plaids, strips and argyle. Stay away from scarves that have too much detail like puff balls at the bottom of the fabric.
Socks – Socks are as fun and fashionable for men as they are comfortable and durable. Find a few pairs with stylish patterns for a signature look. For the best resilience against the winter elements, find a sock that has a padded sole, which offers an additional layer for foot support. Wool and nylon blends provide a nice weight, great warmth and additional comfort. They are also very easy to care for.
