Holiday cocktails to make at home
Festive concoctions to wow your guests

The holiday season is a time of entertaining and gathering with family and friends. Get the party started with these festive drink recipes. And, of course, be sure to drink responsibly:

1/4 cup heavy cream

2 Tbsp. milk

1-1/2 oz. brandy, bourbon or dark rum

1-12 Tbsp. simple syrup or agave nectar

1 Pasteurized egg, slightly beaten

1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract


Pumpkin pie spice


Place cream, milk, brandy, simple syrup, egg, vanilla and ice in cocktail shaker. Shake until well blended. Pour into 2 glasses rimmed with pumpkin pie spice, if desired. Dust with additional pumpkin pie spice.

Note: Simple syrup can be purchased in beverage section of some supermarkets or specialty stores. To prepare at home, combine equal parts water and sugar in saucepan. Bring to boil and cook until sugar dissolves; cool. Store in refrigerator.

To add pumpkin pie spice rim to glasses, dip rim of glass into simple syrup or agave, then into shallow layer of pumpkin pie spice. Allow to dry.

1 1/2 oz. orange liqueur

1 1/2 oz. vodka

3/4 cup cranberry juice

1 tsp. fresh limejuice

1 Pasteurized egg white, slightly beaten

Dash citrus bitters



Place orange liqueur, vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, egg white, dash of bitters and ice in cocktail shaker. Shake until ingredients are blended. Pour into 2 glasses rimmed with sugar, if desired.

To add sugar rim to glasses, dip rim of glass into citrus juice (orange, lemon or lime) then into shallow layer of colored sugars. Allow to dry.

(Note: Recipe may be doubled.)

1 oz. Kahlua Peppermint Mocha
1 oz. Absolut Vodka
1 oz. espresso
.05 oz. half & half


Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with peppermint stick, candy cane or espresso bean.

1 (64-oz) bottle pomegranate-cranberry juice

1 (46-oz) can pineapple juice

2 cups almond-flavored liqueur

2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice

1 (750-mL) bottle prosecco, chilled

Garnish: fresh cranberries, lemon slices


In a large pitcher, combine juices, almond liqueur and lemon juice; stir to mix well. Cover and chill. When ready to serve, add prosecco, stirring gently to combine. Garnish with fresh cranberries and lemon slices, if desired.
