The holiday season is upon us. Get in the spirit of the season with the Beaujolais Wine Festival Thursday night and a special tree lighting ceremony in SouthPark Friday. Talib, Big Krit and Steve Harvey’s other nephew Junior are all performing in the Queen City this week. Here’s a peek at what else is happening in the days to come:

Beaujolais Wine Festival 11/21

For many, Beaujolais Nouveau is to Thanksgiving what champagne is to New Year's simply because the wine, by French law, isn’t released until the third Thursday of November. Join in the international celebration of “Les premieres vendanges,” or the first grape harvest of the year at the 2013 Beaujolais Wine Festival 6–9 p.m. at Foundation for the Carolinas’ Luski Gallery, 220 North Tryon St. Charlotte is one of only 16 cities in the United States that France recognizes as official Beaujolais cities. The annual festival includes live jazz, silent auctions, traditional French country hors’doeuvres, cooking demonstrations and raffle prizes. Tickets are $35. Call (704) 336-2174 for more information.
