The community came out in droves in an effort to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research at this year's Great Gatsby Gala, held August 23 at the Wells Fargo Atrium. Digital Divas put on quite the show at the Avant-Garde event held August 15 at the Gantt Center, and this month's Science on the Rocks was a huge success at Discovery Place. Africa Umoja Reception - August 14, 2014
The Charlotte Post hosted a reception Thursday night at Mosaic Village Rooftop Terrace for local dignitaries, social influencers, educators, civic leaders and media outlets to learn more about Africa Umoja. Out & About - July 31, 2014
Hundreds gathered in Uptown Charlotte July 26 to celebrate National Dance Day with a choreographed routine. The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture held its annual GanttFest. Carolina Panthers fans enjoyed what some are saying was the best Fan Day experience yet, and the Levine Museum premiered a unique exhibit on LGBT history in the New South. GanttFest 2014
The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Art + Culture hosted its annual GanttFest on July 26 in celebration of the art and culture of the Diaspora. It was a day of fun and family activities including hands-on workshops, storytelling, interactive exhibits, film screenings, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, health screenings and much more. This year, the Gantt also celebrated its 40th Anniversary.

AKA Boule 2014
The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. held their 66th Boule in the Queen City July 12-18. The Roof Top at the Epicentre was a sea of pink and green as sorors partied under the stars in Uptown Charlotte. (PHOTOS BY PAUL WILLIAMS III)

The Gray Classic 2014
The sixth annual Gray Classic Golf Tournament was held in Charlotte July 17-19. Each year during the four-day golf and networking event, several events are held throughout the city including a welcome reception, business roundtable, women’s empowerment brunch and charity golf tournament. Out & About - July 22, 2014
The Gray Classic was held in Charlotte July 17-20. This year was the biggest to date for the annual four-day charity event. Former NBA player Norm Nixon came to town to promote wife Debbie Allen's production of "Brothers of the Knight." Plus, the 2014 Freedom School Gala was held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Women Who Lead Luncheon - June 28
The 12th annual UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon was held June 28 at The Westin Charlotte featuring the much-anticipated HATitude Competition. This year marked the first time the luncheon was held without its namesake. A special tribute was held for Angelou, who died in May at the age of 86. (Photography by Daniel Coston).

17th Annual Juneteenth Festival
The 17th annual Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas was held June 12-15 at Independence Park near Uptown Charlotte. The four-day festival, which features food, arts and music, celebrates the cultural traditions and diversity of Black people with various programs, activities and performances. Bends, Brunch & Bubbly - June 1
All In PR and The Crowne Hotel of Charlotte hosted the Bends, Brunch and Bubbly charity event for Charlotte professionals on June 1. Attendees, which included NBA legend Muggsy Bogues, Carolina Panther Byron Bell and the Ace & TJ Show’s Lindsay Gladden, enjoyed a brunch buffet complete with unlimited bubbly and a celebrity yoga session in support of Always Believe Foundation and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Deltas of Charlotte Charity Bachelor Auction 5/17/14
Deltas of Charlotte Foundation held its 10th Annual Charity Bachelor Auction, “The 2014 Diamond Collection: The Real Men of the QC,” May 17 at the McGlohon Theater in Spirit Square. Ramona Holloway and Jessica “The Girl Next Door” hosted the live auction, which gave ladies an opportunity to bid on dates with some of Charlotte’s most successful eligible bachelors ages 25-65. The Jetpool Hangar Pairings Party 5/19/14
The William Wilson Foundation held its annual signature fundraiser, the William Wilson Celebrity Invitational, May 19-20. The two-day event kicked off Monday night with The Jetpool Hangar Pairings Party, where guests got a taste of the “jet set lifestyle,” enjoying gourmet hors d'oeuvres and spirits while mingling with celebrities and lounging on private jets and luxury cars. Critically acclaimed journalist, educator and mentor, Soledad O'Brien, hosted a powerful discussion focused on uncovering and sharing empowering stories that take a challenging look at the often divisive issues of race, class, wealth, poverty and opportunity. Joining O'Brien for the panel discussion was Charlotte community leaders Dr. Patrick C. Graham, President & CEO, Urban League of Central Carolinas, Tiffany Capers, Managing Director - Growth, Development, Partnerships, Teach For America, Charlotte and Ron Stodghill, author, journalist and Director, Innovo Laboratory at Johnson C.
