Dental professionals from the Carolinas are improving smiles with a marathon clinic.

N.C. Missions of Mercy-Charlotte is hosting a free clinic for low-income clients Dec. 7-8 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The nonprofit is looking for volunteers to set up equipment at 80 mobile stations on Dec. 6 from 6 p.m.-12:30 a.m. shifts Dec. 7-8 and breaking down equipment clinic’s end. Translators, especially Spanish speakers, are also needed.

Clinic organizers expect more than 2,000 patients to receive treatment over the 30-hour session, which would roughly equal last year’s results. More than 1,300 volunteers provided their time and services and over $1 million of free care was performed.

To sign up for the specific hours and/or days needed above, call Michael Stout at (704) 332-7737.

Volunteers will be needed to set up registration, blood pressure screening, X-ray and triage stations. Dentists will provide cleanings, extractions, fillings, root canals and partials for front teeth. Patients must be at least 18 years old with income less than the 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Monetary donations can be made by sending a check made payable to the Charlotte Regional Dental Health Foundation and sent to NCMOM- Charlotte Project, 497 North Wendover Road, Charlotte, NC 28211-1064.
