Flowers

Anjanette Flowers joined WCNC in April 2008, bringing her back home to North Carolina.

She started out as the weekend evening anchor, then she anchored the weekday morning show.  Now, you can catch her anchoring the noon and 5:30 p.m. newscasts.

Flowers spent 3 1/2 years at WPLG (ABC) in Miami, Florida, as a reporter and fill-in anchor. She covered her share of hurricanes while there, including breaking news, political scandals and major sports stories like Super Bowl 41.

Before heading south, Flowers also worked as a reporter, fill-in anchor at News 14 Carolina in Charlotte. But she landed her first reporting job back in 2000 at WPDE (ABC) in Florence, South Carolina.

Flowers graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 where she majored in journalism with an outside concentration in drama.

For the last 2 years, she has served as a mentor for the annual PEEP (Pride Entrepreneur Education Program) Mentoring Luncheon. She is a former board member of The Children’s Theatre, and has volunteered for numerous organizations including Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

In 2010 Flowers had the distinct honor of giving the commencement address at her alma mater, Anson high school.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family.  She and her husband, Jason, live in Charlotte with their son Caleb and dog Chloe.
