Public input sought at May 8 meeting

The Charlotte Area Transit System is hosting a May 8 public meeting to discuss proposed changes to the Gold Rush bus service.

The forum will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center in Room CH-14.

CATS has proposed shortening the Red Line to a service area between Johnson C. Smith University and Central Piedmont Community College and eliminating the Orange Line along Tryon Street. Bus frequency on the Red Line is expected to improve to every 12 minutes. If the proposals are adopted, the changes will take place in July.

“CATS is proposing these changes because of reductions in federal grant funding and private contributions that have supported the Gold Rush services,” says Pamela White, the transit agency’s manager of service development.

Staff will be available to provide information, answer questions and solicit feedback from the public. You can email comments to telltransit@charlottenc.gov by 5 p.m. on May 8.
