A beautiful, well functioning home is more than what meets the eye. It can lead to a greater peace of mind. Your home represents the way you live your life. Get expert tips and advice at the 29th Annual Ideal Home Show Aug. 23-25.

Your home represents the way you live your life. When it’s beautiful and well functioning, it can lead to a greater peace of mind.

More than 200 experts from homebuilding and home improvement companies in the Charlotte area are gearing up to showcase the best in lifestyle trends at the 29th annual Southern Ideal Home Show.

The show takes place August 23-25 at The Park Expo and Conference Center at 2500 E. Independence Blvd and will feature tools, trends and materials to help homeowners live their best lives at home, in the garden and beyond.

“When we talk about the concept of home, we’re not just talking about bricks and mortar,” said show manager Mardee Woodward. “We mean everything that makes a house feel like a home. And more than that, a home that is well-designed, well-organized and makes intelligent use of space helps its occupants lead more peaceful and productive lives.”

Homeowners looking to find creative ideas, good deals, updates on the latest trends and expert how-to advice can likely find it at the Southern Ideal Home Show.

“We all spend a lot of time in our homes,” said Woodward. “Why not make them as attractive and efficient as possible? A home should be a refuge and a source of comfort. The Southern Ideal Home Show helps homeowners create a home that works, aesthetically and functionally, for the way they live their lives.”

Many people say the kitchen is the heart of their home. At the home show, not only will guests receive expert advice on making their kitchens more aesthetically pleasing. They will also get to see demos on everything from preparing barbecue to cooking with local organic herbs and vegetables.

The IDEAL Cooking Stage, hosted by Heidi Billotto, will help guests create delicious meals as some of Charlotte’s top chefs bring out their best recipes for cooking demonstrations and sampling. In addition to the demos, there will be kitchen gadgets, jams and dips, wine and more available for sampling and purchase.

Show hours: Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Admission: $9 at door. Youth (15 and under) free with paying adult. $7 in advance online. Second annual$5 admission after 5 p.m. on Friday (with free parking).
