With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TMB Marketing in Charlotte will be making awareness to breast cancer within the Charlotte area by presenting a charity event, Chocolate For A Cure.

After years of research and surviving breast cancer herself, Tia Bullett, owner of TMB Marketing realizes that the disease is more prevalent in the African American community now than ever before.  In addition, statistics show that African American women in the U.S. have a higher death rate from breast cancer than any other ethnic population.  Although she volunteers her services with local breast cancer organizations, Tia wanted to do more to bring awareness and eradicate this disease.

The event name is a play on the word “chocolate” which will feature chocolatier Sadruddin Abdullah from Dessert Specialists Inc.  His well-known chocolate desserts will be an added treat for all who attend.  Rev. Sheron C. Patterson, pastor and author of “The Blessings & Bling, How Faith and Fashion Helped Me Survive Breast Cancer” is scheduled to be the keynote speaker.  She brings direct insight on the disease as a five year survivor herself, and believes in helping others survive on a national and an international basis.

Although Chocolate For A Cure is geared toward the African American community, it is open to any and everyone who would like to attend and or donate. The cocktail reception gala will be held on Oct. 6 at the uptown Omni Hotel from 7-10 p.m.  For more information, call (877) 993-8499 or go to http://www.ez-tixx.com/Static/info_omni_chocolateforacure2012_event.html for ticket and donation information.  Tickets are $35 with portion of the proceeds going to a local breast cancer foundation.

This event is scheduled the evening of Charlotte’s Komen Race for the Cure.
