Livingstone and Lincoln (Pa.) are the top seeds in the CIAA tournament men's draw, while Fayetteville State and Elizabeth City State top the women's field.
The tournament, which tips off Tuesday at Time Warner Cable Arena, is historic in that both Livingstone and Lincoln are division champions for the first time in those programs' history. The Blue Bears knocked off Winston-Salem State 60-55 in the regular season finale to sweep the series.
Fayetteville State and Shaw tied for first in the South, but the Broncos earned the women's top seed by their 14-2 conference record, one game better than the Bears. Elizabeth City State won the North with an unbeaten division mark of 10-0, four games better than Virginia Union.
