Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority is promoting small business at a Charlotte forum.
The sorority’s Rho Psi Omega Chapter and its nonprofit charity RPO Inc. will host the Queen City Entrepreneurs Conference on Aug. 10 at the Charlotte Convention Center from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The conference will focus on the role of small and mid-size businesses and push economic development and networking for entrepreneurs. Ursula Dudley Oglesby, president and recruiter in chief at High Point-based Dudley Beauty Corporation, will be the keynote speaker.
“In years past, we’ve hosted this event as a business expo featuring exhibitors and general sessions for all attendees, but this year we’re focusing specifically on the unique needs of small to mid-size business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs by offering workshops and opportunities for networking in our Networking Café,” said Renae Sanders, president of Rho Psi Omega Chapter. “As an organization focused on economic empowerment, we’re excited to provide opportunities for attendees to learn from business leaders about practical strategies and tools they can use to gain a competitive edge and have a successful business.”
Workshops will focus on business operations, partnerships and franchising, as well as the use of digital marketing, protecting intellectual property and challenges facing women entrepreneurs. Exhibits that provide goods and services to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs will also be on hand.
Registration is required and the cost of admission is $25 before Aug. 3. Registration includes workshops, networking, exhibitors, and lunch.
