The Charlotte Sunset Jazz Festival will return to Syphony Park Sept. 12 with saxophonist Dante Lewis headlining the show.

The Charlotte Sunset Jazz Festival returns to Symphony Park Sept. 14 with a performance by saxophonist Dante Lewis. The annual musical celebration is free and features music, food and family fun.

“The Charlotte Sunset Jazz Festival has become an annual tradition for our community for 20 years,” said Dee Dixon, publisher of Pride Magazine and the festival's organizer. “We are honored to produce this unique event year after year. I look forward to seeing familiar faces, along with some new ones at this year’s event. Dante Lewis and our local and regional talent will not disappoint.”

Lewis has been wowing audiences throughout the Carolinas with his unmistakable sound and personality since the age of 12. In 2003, Lewis founded the band Vision, a party and jazz group that performed at weddings, banquets and other major parties and social events.

In addition to Lewis, Groove 8, Bam-Jazz, Los Trabucos and Robyn Springer will perform this year.

Groove 8 was named an emerging artist at the Montreaux Jazz Festival and has received several accolades for its emphasis on merging various genres into its own unique sound.

Regional group Bam-Jazz includes trumpeter, vocalist and composer Bill Averbach playing vintage swing jazz and jive from the 1920s and beyond.

Vocalist Robyn Springer has been featured on albums with Najee, The Fugees and alternative rapper John Forte.

The band Los Trabucos has remained dedicated to keeping the traditions of Latin, Cuban and Afro-Cuban music alive in Charlotte for the past 15 years.

This year’s festival will also include a “Best Dressed at the Fest” contest. For a complete line up of performances, visit www.CharlotteSunsetJazzFestival.com.
