White parties, Panthers and R. Kelly

Kick off Labor Day weekend with R. Kelly. The R&B king is hosting Ladies' Night at Label Nightclub Aug. 30.   

Labor Day weekend is upon us, and the Queen City will be full of festivities as the Panthers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pre-season game, R. Kelly comes to Label and Maz Entertainment kicks off the weekend with an all-white party at Founders Hall. Here’s a peek at what’s in store for the coming week:

Steelers vs. Panthers - 8/29

Head over to Bank of America Stadium, 800 S. Mint St., to catch the preseason game between the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers at 7:30 p.m. Ladies, leave your purses at home and be sure to visit www.panthers.com to get familiar with the stadium’s new security rules.

R. Kelly @ Label - 8/30

Kick off Labor Day weekend with the ultimate Ladies’ Night Out featuring the undisputed king of R&B, R. Kelly, at Label Night Club. He will be singing his hits and getting up close and personal. Tickets can be purchased at EZ-Tixx.com, VarietyEnt.net or any DTLR clothing store location.

Charlotte White Party - 8/31

As the saying goes, you can’t wear white after Labor Day, so give your all-white ensemble one last hurrah this weekend as Maz Entertainment presents the Charlotte All White Party featuring DJ Bobby Drake at Founders Hall, 100 N. Tryon St. Party starts at 10 p.m. Tickets available on Eventbrite.com.

Christian Unity Festival – 9/1

Just Us Jesus Ministries is hosting the Christian Unity Festival at Memorial Stadium featuring Grammy award winning artist Israel Houghton with his group New Breed with special guest, rapper T-Bone. Show begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Visit JustUsJesus.org for more information.

Inner Circle Nation – 9/1

Enjoy an evening featuring Buff Dillard and a four-set jazz band and music by DJ Pyro at Delta’s Restaurant, 525 N. Tryon Street. Receive two complimentary drinks from 9 to 11 p.m. with advanced tickets, which can be purchased at www.innercirclenation.eventbrite.com.

Colossal Labor Day Celebration - 9/1

The Sol Kitchen is hosting the Colossal Labor Day Weekend Celebration featuring DJ B-Lord and DJ Mars. Guests can receive entry into two venues, Suite and Bubble Charlotte, for one price. The Carolinas Worship Experience - 9/2

The National Baptist Convention USA is kicking off its 133rd annual session at 3 p.m. with The Carolinas Worship Experience at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Road. The concert will feature youth and young adults from the Carolinas including Dennis Reed and Charlotte’s youth performance group Inspire the Fire, contemporary violinist Daniel D and Pure-N-Heart accompanied by Mass Children’s Choir. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at www.nbccarolinas.com.

Iron Bartender Charlotte – 9/2

Dubbed the “Iron Chef” competition of cocktails, Iron Bartender Charlotte will feature four local bartenders competing in three head-to-head bouts of mixing new drinks with secret ingredients. Judges will select winners from each round, and attendees can purchase drinks to sample after each round while dining on traditional Louisiana and creative Southern cuisine at UpStage (formerly Wine Up), located at 3306 N.
