Who was the nation’s 41st president? What’s the strongest muscle in the human body? Who was the NFL’s first overall draft pick in 2011?

This Volkswagen van anchors the Charlotte-based “Bus Stop Game.”

If you can correctly answer trivia questions like these, you could win money in a new mobile game show filming in Charlotte.

“The Bus Stop Game” debuted earlier this month on WCCB (channel 18) and WMYT (channel 55). The game show takes place on a vintage Volkswagen van, which travels to bus stops around Charlotte and invites contestants to step inside and answer trivia questions for a chance to win cash and other prizes.

“The great thing about the show is that we are local and the contestants are local players, not Hollywood actors,” says Sean Wright, the show’s creator.

Wright says he came up with the concept three years ago because he wanted to see more family-friendly content on television.
“There is just a lot of foolishness on TV,” he says. “This show will bring back the fun in watching television, the kind of fun I used to have as a kid and the kind I want my kids to witness today.”

The object of “The Bus Stop Game” is to correctly answer three trivia questions in a row. According to Wright, contestants can win up to $400, which is given in cash on the spot.

Contestants must be standing at a bus stop to play. Wright says he makes it a point not to announce his location prior to arrival, but he does frequent Uptown Charlotte at night.

Wright says making money is not his immediate goal. He is focused on building a fan base so that he can later shop the show for national syndication.

“The Bus Stop Game Show” airs on WCCB Fridays at 2 a.m. and Sundays at 12:30 a.m. It is shown on WMYT Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 a.m.
