Some of the world’s top jazz musicians are coming to Charlotte next month.

Jazz vocalist Maysa will play the Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest June 22-23 at the North Carolina Music Factory.

The third annual Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest at North Carolina Music Factory June 22-23 will bring the genre’s heavyweights to Time Warner Cable Uptown Ampitheatre. The festival is expanding to two nights in response to growing fan interest over the first two years, which featured big-time artists like David Sanborn, George Duke and the Rippingtons.

The opening-night lineup for 2012 includes Jonathan Butler, vocalists Maysa and Warren Hill, Pieces of Dream and local flavor with Charlotte band Innertwyned.

On June 23, Boney James, Incognito featuring Maysa and Trumpeter Joey Summerville will take the stage starting at 7 p.m.

“Having Pieces of a Dream, Soul of Summer with Jonathan Butler, Maysa, and Warren Hill start the festival… is an amazing way to get the weekend started,” said Charles Whitfield, managing member of E2 Shows,” which is producing the festival. “And then to follow it up …with Boney James and Incognito featuring Maysa, we could not ask for a better way to celebrate our third year.”

VIP and reserved tickets are available at the Fillmore Charlotte Box Office or by calling (704) 916-8970. Individual tickets are available through uptowncharlottejazzfest.com, at the Fillmore Charlotte Box office or by phone call (800) 745-3000.

North Carolina Music Factory is located at 1000 Seaboard Street.

There’ll be music in Mint Hill next month, too.

June Tunes, a series of concerts on the lawn at the Mint Hill Town Hall, 7151 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, will begin June 2 at 7:30 p.m. with hometown Sterling Bridge, a bagpipes and rock band.

The lineup includes:

• Horsefly (blues and classic rock) on June 9;

• Charlotte Flute Choir on June 16

• Queen Charlotte Chorus (four-part barbershop style) on June 23;

• Lindsay Nicole with her band, Highway 74 on June 30, and

• Queen City Brass Band (British brass) on July 3
