Carnival is a period of feasting and fun that begins each year on Jan. 19 and lasts until Fat Tuesday, a final day of revelry before Ash Wednesday, when Lent season – a time of fasting before Easter – begins.

Each year, New Orleans celebrates Fat Tuesday, which falls on Feb. 12 , with Mardi Gras – a tradition marked with music, parades, floats, drinking and bead-throwing. However, you don’t have to travel all the way to NOLA to get in on the action.

Multiple Hurricane bars will be spread out through the first and second levels of the EpiCentre just as they line Bourbon St. The parade begins at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
